We utilize advanced investigative methodologies, open-source intelligence, geospatial analysis, field documentation, and evidence-based reporting to conduct thorough investigations into environmental violations across the Mediterranean region.

Our machine-learning models are built to screen every satellite pass and separate real pollution from look-alikes. When a vessel has switched off its transponder, the system is designed to identify it by matching the radar return against years of historical AIS tracks — then trace its owner, manager, flag and sanctions exposure.

Where a case needs confirmation beyond the screen, our investigations partner PolarVector adds vessel, corporate and sanctions intelligence and lawful verification on the ground.

Our work focuses on identifying illegal activity, documenting environmental harm, and producing actionable reports that can be used by authorities, institutions, and partner organizations.

Our objective is not only to expose environmental violations, but to ensure they are addressed through legitimate institutional channels and to give the authorities evidence they can act on.

Our initiatives focus on protecting coastal and marine ecosystems, combating illegal dumping and environmental degradation, and promoting sustainable operational practices across the Mediterranean region.

What we do

Transparent Reporting

We emphasize transparency and evidence-based environmental reporting, providing the public, institutions, and partner organizations with clear insight into pollution events and environmental violations across the Mediterranean region.

Once an analyst confirms a finding, the evidence package is assembled automatically: satellite acquisitions, AIS and dark-period timelines, drift modelling and the vessel dossier — each file hashed and logged for chain of custody, then routed to the competent coastal, port or flag-state authority.

MEPA maintains a documentation-first approach in all investigations. Addressed cases may be requested for review, subject to legal, operational, and privacy considerations.

Our objective is to ensure that environmental reporting remains credible, traceable, and actionable — reinforcing public trust and institutional accountability through transparent investigative standards.
